Poor & Starving is a trade name (or brand, secret identity, whatever you want to call it) for myself, Niko Bauer. Born in Finland in 1973, moved to the Netherlands in July 2000, currently living in Den Haag (the Hague) with my wife and 6 year old daughter.
The name "Poor & Starving" is of course a joke, this being the old cliche of the situation that a proper artist should find himself in if he or she wants to be taken seriously (after his/her death that is).
I studied art in Finland, then accidentally ended up in the IT business for several years, working both in Finland and in the Netherlands. This results in a mix of both "conventional" art and work designed & executed with a pc, or both combined.
Examples of my work can be found in the "Portfolio" section, a lot of it is directly related or influenced by music, my favourite way to pass the time, but this doesn't mean that I'd concentrate exclusively in only that, over the years I've done ex libris's, T-shirts, murals, posters, websites, brochures, article illustrations, cd covers, portraits and so on using ink, pens, oil paint, water color, photoshop etc. Look around on the site, you'll get the general idea!
